Roof height regulations.

The minimum height from the surface of the floor to the ceiling or bottom of slab should be not less than 2 75m. This is for masonry chimneys. The occupational safety and health administration has set new guidelines for inspecting commercial roofs. The top of the flue opening should be 3 ft 0 92 m above any roof surface.

Low slope roof 4 12 slope or less 29 cfr 1926 501 b 10. A vertical line drawn along the up roof side of the chimney from the roof surface to the top of the chimney flue opening shall be at least 3 ft in height. These include using roof anchors and safety cords for roof inspections. Warm roofs must have a vcl bonded to the deck.

There must be a slope of 1 80. Steep roof above 4 12 slope 29 cfr 1926 501 b 11. For air conditioned rooms a height of not less than 2 4 m measured from the top of the floor to the lowest point of the air conditioning duct or the false ceiling should be provided. Waterproofing should extend up the adjacent walls at least 150mm from the roof surface.

Rainwater can build up on a roof during heavy storm events and it may be stating the obvious but unless checked this water could spill into building and saturate construction elements electrical installations as well as internal finishes and effects. Cold roofs must have ventilation. On exposed membrane roofs the upstand height is measured directly from the membrane surface. If you choose to walk on a roof without these you will be out of compliance with osha regulations and subject to fines.

For a gas vent or type l vent this height must be 2 ft 0 61m or more.
