With the joist back in its original position place one section of the angle iron on the uppermost section of the rafter just before the area where it is sagging or broken. It is not unusually for roofs to sag a little over time but there are a few things to inquire about.

1 there are 2 support beams that run from front to back of the 23 garage. Check the ceiling for sagging by attaching a string on one end of the beam and run it along the bottom edge of the beam. A ridge that droops in the middle forming that unintentional western design feature likely is due to undersized rafters and or missing or inadequate internal bracing rafter or collar ties.

The middle part of my garage has noticeable sag so im wondering how i can fix the sag improve the design and look into raising the roof about 2ft to match the attached garage roof and house line together. Step 1 the first step is to the basement first.
